Karen L. Schiff vinnur með samspil myndlistar og tungumáls. Hún er með M.F.A. gráðu í myndlist frá School of the Museum of Fine Arts í Boston (2006) og doktorsgráðu í bókmenntum frá University of Pennsylvania (1998). Verk hennar hafa verið sýnd í galleríum og söfnum í New York, víða annar staðar í Bandaríkjunum og á Spáni. Einnig voru verk eftir hana á sýningunni Art=Text=Art” í Hafnarborg, en sú sýning var hluti af Listahátíð í Reykjavík 2013. Verkefnið “Counter to Type birtist í vorhefti Art Jurnal og á vefsíðu hennar má sjá myndband um verkefnið. Verkefninu fylgir einnig ritgerðin “Connecting the Dots / Hijacking Typography”, en einnig má finna grein eftir Schiff um nýlegar bækur um listakonuna Agnes Martin í Art in America og Art Jurnal.

Karen L. Schiff works at intersections of art and language. She holds an M.F.A. in Studio Art (School of the Museum of Fine Arts / Boston, 2006), and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory (University of Pennsylvania, 1998).  Her artwork has shown in galleries and museums in New York, around the United States, in Spain and in Iceland (in “Art=Text=Art” at the Hafnarborg Museum, 2013); her artist’s project, “Counter to Type,” appears in the Spring 2014 issue of Art Journal.  A video about making “Counter to Type” is on the artist’s website.  The artist’s project is also accompanied by an essay, “Connecting the Dots / Hijacking Typography,” and her reviews of recent books about artist Agnes Martin can be found in Art in America and Art Journal.
