Metallurgy

Metallurgy is the branch of science and engineering that deals with the properties, processing, and production of metals and their alloys. It encompasses the study of metal extraction from ores, the manipulation of metal structure and properties through heat treatment and alloying, and the development of new materials with enhanced characteristics. Metallurgy is divided into two main categories: extractive metallurgy, which focuses on the extraction and purification of metals from their ores, and physical metallurgy, which examines the physical and chemical behavior of metallic elements and their alloys. Metallurgists apply their knowledge to improve the performance and durability of metals used in various applications, ranging from construction to manufacturing and technology.
